Spending Christmas 49 floors above the city.
I have this thing for observatories (evident here and here) and my recent trip to Ho Chi Minh was no different. Granted, i was the only one actually excited to head up, while the rest of the fam bam hung around downstairs. Not gonna lie when i say that the admission cost was the reason that threw them off (the Malaysian currency is beyond depressing so they didn’t think it was worth it) but i on the one hand can never seem to say no when it comes to watching a city’s gridwork from above.
I’m a hapless
romantictraveller like that.
The Bitexco Tower stands tall from afar, visible among the non-existent skyscrapers of Ho Chi Minh city, and looks IRONically similar to that of the Stark Tower (as in Iron Man’s Stark – see what i did there hah!). The building comprises a couple of shopping floors and multiple levels of offices, hence why it is known as the Bitexco Financial Tower and is probably the tallest building in Ho Chi Minh. From what i saw, that is. The skydeck itself is located on the 49th floor and is accessible from a different entrance. It boasts pretty incredible views of the city, which on ground level i wouldn’t expect the structure of the city to run that far.
Ho Chi Minh is not as small as we come to believe.
The things to do there, however, are a different matter altogether. But i’ll leave that out for another day.
