The female version of a Sloppy Joe. And because my name is Jo. I crack myself up sometimes.
There are days when my mind goes into slouch mode, and the only acceptable form of dressing is that of the opposite gender. Throw on a tee, a pair of distressed jeans, sneakers and behold, an outfit that didn’t take much thought.
Boys have it so easy.
The vast number of bloggers/instagrammers i follow are all about staying chic and their boy looks still come out so feminine that sometimes it makes me feel like my levels of oestrogen are at an abnormal rate. Don’t get me wrong, i love my fair share of dresses, skirts and heels (my shoe collection used to back me up on this) but some days i just want to be lazy. Especially on travels because face it, we girls struggle with one of two problems – no luggage space or no luggage weight. Or basically nothing to wear.
Oddly enough, people have whispered that i was rooting for the other team back in my pubescent years. I had zero relationships, simply because i had to concentrate on studying (very Asian, yes) and i neither had the time nor the permission to be going out on dates anyway. I only got my first phone in Form 4, mind you. The first sneaky borrow-old-phones-from-friends phone in Form 3 though (secret’s out – hi mom!). But that’s nothing now compared to the little toddlers already introduced to Youtube and iPads even before they learned to walk.
I have never been a girly girl and truthfully, i wouldn’t have it any other way. I believe that there is undoubtedly a man in all of us. Whether we choose to let that side emerge is one thing.
And on off days like this, say hello to Sloppy Jo.
