Hong Kong Diary

September 15, 2017

What We Did Day 1: Central, Sheung Wan & Lan Kwai Fong Melissa and i have always talked about visiting Hong Kong together, so it was a little surreal when we finally put plans into motion, despite being so spontaneous. Our flight got in at 9am and since we were only allowed to drop our bags off at noon, we took our time and had brunch at our first Michelin-star restaurant at the airport. Unlike Singapore’s humidity, it was that…

Day Trip: Cheung Chau

April 5, 2017

After a freezing Victoria Peak, we met up with Melissa’s friend who took us to Cheung Chau, which is about an hour ferry ride away. We basically spent the day walking around most of the island and eating. And eating. And eating. I wasn’t kidding when i said i become a food monster in Asia. My appetite was probably also fuelled by the fact that it was the only time we had proper street food during our entire stay in…

Victoria Peak

March 31, 2017

We were initially supposed to make it on the first day, but arrived to a line snaking all the way round the corner. This was sometime late afternoon so we decided to wake up really early on our last day to beat the crowd. The tram is frequented both by tourists and locals so you can expect some heavy crowds every now and then. And while we have the steepest passenger railway in the world, the Victoria Peak tram is apparently…

Lantau Island

March 18, 2017

We were initially planning on hiking one of the trails on Lantau Island, but after researching directions the night before found out that getting to the starting point alone would take about 2 hours (i may have been extremely exhausted that night so wanted to sleep in a little as much as i could heh) so we decided to skip it and just wander around the village instead. After getting off at Tung Chung station (the end of the line. The…

East Promenade

February 26, 2017

Our final location in Kowloon was Tsim Sha Tsui. The East Promenade boasts sweeping views of the main island, and is a favoured tourist spot in Hong Kong. Simply get off at Tsim Sha Tsui station and walk all the way down the street until you reach the harbour. We were planning on visiting the Avenue of Stars, but upon reaching found out that it was closed for renovations. So instead we claimed a spot along the harbour, stayed there till the sun went down, and…

Mong Kok Street Markets

February 18, 2017

Our second location in Kowloon was the area of Mong Kok. There are so many things to see here, which is ironic because the last time i visited Hong Kong with my family, we were actually staying around the area and we never stumbled across this. Kudos to the 6-years-younger me, who never did any research or took any pictures whatsoever. We walked through Tung Choi St first, otherwise also known as the Goldfish Market, and the sight of all the…
