We were staying on the main island during our trip to Hong Kong, so decided to take a full day to explore Kowloon. Our first location was the Chi Lin Nunnery & Nan Lian Garden, located just across the road from each other. If this place looks familiar, it is because it is currently on the cover of Lonely Planet’s Hong Kong guide.
It was a quiet and chilly morning on the day of our visit, and we could feel this peaceful aura blanketing the area the moment we stepped in the nunnery. I was obsessed with the trees that were pruned to resemble large bonsai because i’ve been meaning to get a bonsai myself (but let’s face it, it would probably die on me because i’m not a green thumb like that). Most of the worthy picture ideas consisted of closed-off areas that we were tempted to ignore, but chickened out in the end after spotting a guard heading our way.
To get here, we took the MTR and got off at Diamond Hill station. Both locations are very near the station, with good signage that ensure you won’t get lost.
